Overviews of the P站视频 Center for DICR Training Programs

The P站视频 (P站视频) is committed to increasing diversity and inclusion in the cancer workforce by providing training and support to students from groups that are underrepresented in the science and health professions because of race, ethnicity, gender, disability status, and/or because of having a disadvantaged background.

These are our 3 DICR training programs. Follow the links to learn more about each specific program.

For high school students who:

  • Are part of an underrepresented minority group?
  • Identify as female
  • Interested in a future career in a health-related science

Focus

  • Teaching and modeling cancer research principles and challenges
  • Exposure to the breadth of careers in cancer research
  • Development of a broad, diverse professional network

2 week summer experience with year-long career development and networking activities

DICR SHE Application Deadline (By Invitation Only)
January 22nd

For undergraduate college students who are:

  • Part of an underrepresented minority group
  • Rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors?
  • Interested in any STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) discipline?

Focus

  • Hands-on cancer research experience
  • Mentorship

Stipend for Students
$5,000 a year for 4 to 8 interns per institution, with $500 support for housing and/or transportation

Duration of Research Training
10-weeks in summer with year-long career development and networking activities

DICR Internships Application Deadline (By Invitation Only)

For students with a bachelors degree who are:

  • Part of a minority group that’s typically underrepresented in science
  • Aspiring for a doctoral degree?in any STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) discipline?or health profession

Focus

  • Individual professional development plan and support services to prepare for a career in cancer research
  • Mentored research with defined project/skill-building
  • Travel to scientific meetings
  • Support Services: Counseling, career services, group dynamics, test-taking skills

Stipend for Students?
An average of $35,000 a year, for 4 post-baccalaureate fellows per institution, plus funds for travel to professional meetings, application fees, funds to offset healthcare coverage, childcare, and transportation
