I also have a personal connection to cancer - two of my immediate family members are survivors. So I’m determined to raise awareness and help promote research findings that offer support and hope to families and those fighting for their lives."
As a Project Manager on the Population Science team, Mahera Sohail, BS, helps implement the strategic partnership between the P站视频 (P站视频) and Emory University's Winship Cancer Institute. She also helps manage other Population Science projects.
At Augusta University, Sohail was a cell and molecular biology researcher, focused on the gene expression of adenylyl cyclase isoforms in pancreatic cancer. Her goal was to understand why only 3 out of the 9 mutations of these isoforms were present in somatic pancreatic cancer cells and to observe possible ways to prevent pancreatic cancer from spreading.?
Sohail and her co-author presented their research via a poster at a Brown Bag event sponsored by the Center for Undergraduate Research Society at Augusta University. Their poster was displayed at the 15th Annual Phi Kappa Phi Research and Fine Arts Conference at Augusta University.?
